Mini Shrine Beach Hut

Now that my father has received this for fathers day, I can show all you lovely folks!

Fidden Farm is probably our family's favourite place on earth. So many happy camping memories were formed on that Scottish Island of Mull. The shells and sand in this project were lovingly collected from there.

A week on from Orlando

I know a week has passed since Orlando, and in the age of fleeting news stories that may as well be a year!

I however have not forgotten. Being a proud Trekkie who's favourite quote and philosophy for life is the core of Vulcan philosophy, IDIC (Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations), this image spoke very loudly to me.

We are Orlando. Reflection on the 12 June attack from a Trekkie's perspective. IDIC. Star Trek.

It matters not what sexual orientation you are, or what race, gender, age or class you are. It matters not whether you are lucky enough to be blessed with full health or whether you have a physical or mental disability. It certainly matters not what you look like, and it matters not what your religious or political affiliation is.

So long as you treat your fellow humans with respect, you never know what friends you may make and what things you may learn if you open yourself up others.

Spread love, not hate.

Meet The Inspirers!

As many of you may know, Crafter's Companion have been looking for members for their brand new Design Team, The Inspirers.

I am so thrilled to have been asked to join this team!
I look forward to working on the projects and ideas to show you.

CLICK HERE TO MEET THE INSPIRERS
ON THE CRAFTER'S COMPANION BLOG!

Speaking of sharing projects...
Here is my very first project for The Inspirers!
I greatly enjoyed working with the Sheena Douglass "Day of the Dead" stamps and dies as well as other supplies available from Crafter's Companion!  They stock way more than you realise so check out The Website HERE.

Carry on reading below, where I have a few art journaling tips to share with you.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I used the following materials:

STAMPS & DIES
Sheena Douglass - Day of the Dead - Perfect Partners Stamps - "Pawprint Memories", "Floral Fiesta", "Sugar Skull", "Union of Souls" and "Danse Macabre"

Sheena Douglass - Day of the Dead - Perfect Partners Dies - "Pawprint Memories"

MEDIUMS USED
Gesso
Gelatos
Archival Ink

You can buy everything above from www.crafterscompanion.co.uk!

ANYTHING ELSE
Posca Paint Markers (black & white)
  Tissue Paper
  Dry Wall Tape
  PVA glue

Each of the Perfect Partners Stamp Sets by Sheena Douglass have a matching Die Set which can be bought separately! I made full use of the die for the skeleton critters, saving on a LOT of fussy cutting out!

Stamping the skeleton critters from the "Pawprint Memories" set, then die cutting them out really adds a lot of detail that you wouldn't get from just the die alone (although I do plan to use them alone in a project in the future also!!).

TOP TIP: Sometimes a surface can end up with a lot of texture, as in the case of my journal page with the grid texture formed by the dry wall tape.  This can make getting a clear stamped image difficult to achieve by stamping direct onto the surface.  Instead, stamp onto tissue paper, using Archival Ink.
Once cut or torn out and glued to the surface, the tissue paper almost vanishes to nothing!

Finally, I wanted to share this last image, showing the corner stamps, which don't show up well in the other photos.

Trekkies - An Art Journal Page

Afternoon folks!  I'm currently sat at my fortnightly blogging group in the local pub, contemplating my trip back to my house in my wheelchair... it's started throwing it down!

Anyway, here's my most recent art journal page, Star Trek themed of course!

I love colouring Lisa's stamps from Bloobel Stamps!
She drew this Trekkie stamp just for me and totally knocked it out of the park!

The silhouette of the Enterprise starship with Star Trek Combadge was cut out by hand from black paper.
The star formation in the combadge is taken from the logo for the United Federation of Planets.
The "IDIC" acronym forms the basis of Vulcan philosophy and encapsulates the nature of the Star Trek fandom perfectly.

The doodling in the black areas of the page are made up of Star Trek LCARS Control Panels.
