Star Trek Delta Shield | LGBT Pride

This weekend marked London Pride, the UK's largest event celebrating diversity and equality for our LGBT+ community.
                            

                 

As a member of the LGBT+ community myself, and of course a huge Star Trek fan, I combined the two in order to create this LGBT+ Pride Star Trek Delta!

Clay Tardigrade Sculpture | Star Trek Discovery

Today I share something a bit different that I made recently!

Today I'd like to share a project featuring the digital stamp

Combining Spectrum Noir alcohol markers in the coloured image with Brushos, Distress Ink, white pen, and even die cut letters, I had great fun!

I love colouring Lisa's stamps from Bloobel Stamps! 
She drew this Trekkie stamp just for me and totally knocked it out of the park!

             
The silhouette of the Enterprise starship with Star Trek Combadge was cut out by hand from black paper. 
The star formation in the combadge is taken from the logo for the United Federation of Planets.
 The "IDIC" acronym forms the basis of Vulcan philosophy and encapsulates the nature of the Star Trek fandom perfectly.

    
The doodling in the black areas of the page are made up of Star Trek LCARS Control Panels.

Take me to your leader! - Art Journal Page

Good morning! Good news from my hospital appointment the other day... my eyes (with my glasses!) exceed the wheelchair clinics requirements, so they trust me not to blindly run over a little old lady when our and about in my powerchair!  Still got a road proficiency test to do though, whatever that entails!!

Sadly though, one of my 3 dogs, my old poor sweet Lucy, has got serious problems with her feet, her claws in particular, which are giving her pain and making her lame. She goes in for surgery on Monday although it got extremely bad today so I'm going to see what they suggest tomorrow morning.  They are going to test some skin samples taken whilst there as they possibly suspect an auto-immune condition as the underlying cause.  So please keep your fingers crossed for my girlie.  She's around 13 years old now!

   

Today I'd like to share an art journal page created a week or so ago. This was just a bit of fun , indulging my penchant for all things science fiction!

Summary Process:
           
I created this page over some brickwork Stencil clean-off, some of which is showing through the white dots.

I applied Mod Podge Gloss circles randomly on the page to act as a resist before spraying with the DoCrafts sprays.  Once I had rubbed back the circle areas and the page had dried, I inked the edges with Jet Black Archival Ink.

I drew Marvin the martian (minus his space helmet) onto copier paper, painted over with white Gesso, and cut out. Once glued to the page I used Gelatos and a black watercolour pencil to add the colour and detail.  I then added his space helmet with white Gelato, using Silver DecoArt Dazzling Metallics paint for the collar part.

To finish, the writing was done free- hand using Molotow Paint Markers. The "MARVIN" was painted with the silver paint.

Science Fiction (book page swap 1 of 12)

Welcome to the first of my blog posts showing you the wonderful pages I made as part of a wonderful book swap with 13 fellow crafters dotted all over the world!

So, onto the first page of 12! I'm going to start with the page I made for myself, using my chosen theme of Science Fiction.

 

 

I used the following materials/steps for this page:

 

Robot Digi Stamp by BackLane Artist (on Etsy).

 

Image printed on Neenah cardstock and coloured in Promarkers.

 

Edge of image embossed with silver embossing powder.

 

Yellow paper from a Cricut paper pad.

 

I used dry wall tape on the background, embossed with silver embossing powder.

 

The cogs are greyboard and are from Lisa at That Craft Place.

These were painted black then covered with dry wall tape and/or heat embossed with silver embossing powder.

Journal52 #5 - Television

 Thankyou for all your comments on my last blog post, it's always so nice to be able to share my art with people.

Today's post is taking us back to the journal prompts from www.Journal52.com

I am up to week 5, and this page follows the prompt "Television" and couldn't be any more "me" if it tried!

As a huge science fiction nerd I have many TV shows I could have chosen from, but as I'm currently rewatching Stargate SG-1 from start to finish I thought it an appropriate choice. Plus I instantly had an idea for an awesome Stargate themed page!

The main feature of this page is the SG-1 Stargate itself, which holds a wormhole through which the show's characters travel to other planets each episode.  

I kept the background simple as the Stargate contains a lot of intricate detail that I didn't want overshadowing by too much business elsewhere.  This page was mainly painted in acrylics.

The sentiment is a play on the saying "There's no place like home", with the " home " bit replaced by the Stargate symbol address for the planet Earth; home for most of us I presume!!

The "There's no place like" is formed from die cut letters bought from my favourite craft shop, That Craft Place.  Those, along with the earth address and the yellow Stargate chevrons were coated with Glossy Accents, also from That Craft Place.
