Owl Tag - Wrinkle distress technique

This evening I would like to share with you a tag I made this week using the Tim Holtz Wrinkle Distress technique. 

This tag was made using a #8 Manila Tag by Ranger alongside my Gathered Twigs Distress Ink Pad. 

After drying I stamped the owl image in Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and Tuxedo Black Memento ink and coloured the eyes with Sharpies before adding Glossy Accent highlights to the eyes and beak.

I added lace and twine to the bottom of the tag as well as to the top and finished off with a Twit Twoo sentiment stamped in Archival Ink.

Oh no! Not more tags!

Yep, I'm back with more tags, and those pesky Gelatos are back too!

I used the Tim Holtz "Wrinkle free distress" technique for the background, only used the Gelatos instead of the distress inks!

I inked the edges of the tags with a Charcoal coloured Chalk Ink Pad and stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento ink before adhering my embellishments with silicone glue gel.

I do have other projects I want to work on, including an mdf "Mrs & Mrs" mounted ... thing (what on earth is it called?!) from That Craft Place. I think that's going to be next on my list, in between a couple of things I want to try my hand at for some group challenges that I'm involved with.

Autumnal Tag - Peel offs, glitter and distress inks

A sincere thankyou to everyone who has visited and commented on my blog recently. I have loved visiting your blogs too, if you have one. Your makes are so inspiring!

Last night I slept like a baby for the first time in a long long time! Straight through from 9.30pm last night to 8am this morning! I am feeling very refreshed so got cracking straight away on my crafting.

Today I have another pair of tags to share with you, this time with an autumnal theme. Yes, I know it is the wrong time of year but that is what came to mind yesterday and today when working with the peel off stickers and combination of distress inks that I chose. 

Once I had finished with the inks I decided that I'd overdone it and it needed lightening up a bit so I roughly heat embossed Snowflake Embossing Tinsel by Ranger over the top. I love the effect it gave me! I finished off the edge of the tag with Archival Ink in Watering Can.

I used some peel off sticker leaves and used the same technique as on my Under The Sea tag from yesterday's post.

I mounted the embellishments with silicone glue, added the brown twine and heat embossed the sentiment in black to finish.

So, thanks to that wonderful nights sleep last night, I am on top form today and ready to tackle more tags!... Yes, MORE TAGS!

I have no idea what I'm going to do with them all but I'm definitely addicted!

New tag addiction...

A fellow crater who knows who she is has got me completely addicted to creating tags!

So here are 3 that I've made in the last couple of weeks that I forgot to show you guys!

The first is a very large oversized tag that I made for a challenge... I used acrylic paint, stencils and heat embossing and then simply embellished with paper flowers from a swap and the fabric leaf vine from That Craft Place!

The next 2 tags I made playing around with Distress Inks, stamping, stencilling and heat embossing.

Under The Sea - Gelatos, Peel Offs & Glitter!

Today I would like to share with you 2 tags I made yesterday. 

 This pair of tags were made using the Tim Holtz wrinkle free distress technique, but with Faber-Castell Gelatos!

I have the starter kit of 10 Gelatos and these have been more than enough to get me started!  I found the Gelatos dissolved very nicely when scribbled onto my glass mat and misted with water. I just mixed a little with my fingers then I was ready to mush and swipe the tag into the colours!

I used the #8 Ranger Manila Tag for the larger size tag and whilst at it decided to do a mini version using some old smaller luggage tags I had laying around.

The Gelato back ground was finished off with Seedless Preserve Distress Ink  brushed on through a stencil and the edges were inked in a Charcoal coloured Chalk Ink Pad. 

The white net is actually an upcycled bag that oranges came in! I thought this added perfectly to the underwater effect.

I dusted off and brushed the moth balls away from my box of old Peel Off Stickers after receiving an unofficial challenge to try to use them again! 

I chose fish and shell ones and stuck these down onto a piece of card that I had already stuck extra wide double sided tape to. I then smushed (yes smushed!) ultra fine glitter into the exposed sticky areas before brushing off any excess and fussy cutting out. My craft room, myself and the dogs are now covered in the horrible stuff!! 

Anyway!, to finish off, I stamped out the Under The Sea sentiment and mounted everything onto the tags using Pinflair silicone glue.

Christmas in May!

Yes, you DID read that right, Christmas! Yesterday I spent what was otherwise a horrendous day having my new boiler fitted by busying myself with making my entry for a Tag Swap over at That Craft Place. TCP is a bricks and mortar shop (that I have never been to) but they also have a wonderful crafty community on Facebook, HERE.

The swap theme is "Modern Christmas" with the tag to measure at least 3¼ x 6¼". I'm not sure if mine is as radically "modern" as I suspect others will be, there are some very talented folks in the TCP group. However I think I've done a good job with these. I'm looking forward to doing this swap, truth be told, I am a little nervous, this will be my first swap in this group and the bar is set quite high!

After spending some time trying to figure out where to start, ideas for not one but two tags came to me, so I made both! I don't know which of the tags in going to submit for the swap yet, but I'm sure I'll find a use for the other!

The first tag I've called "Xmas Snow Scene" and is made from materials already in my stash, including American Crafts cardstock, padded fabcricy type embellishments (sorry can't remember their names!) And a vellum sentiment as a loose overlay. I went for mountains going into the distance and hope I got at least some perspective into the scene.

The second tag is called "Contemporary Christmas" and is made from more stuff in my stash including the papers for the tea bag shape, and the felt reindeer bunting. The black reindeer is a die cut from a shop bought crimbo card!
