DAY #7 - Mixed Media Card Week

Hello and welcome to the LAST DAY of Mixed Media Card Week with The Crippled Crafter!

Summary Process

I couldn't go without one final time using my favourite background technique!  Yes, the "Wrinkle-Free Distress" technique by Tim Holtz!
 

I cracked out my other favourite technique once again too... the white pen doodling round the edges of the background! I also used the white pen to splash white on the pink area of the background.

The inked background was layered onto brown cardstock before adding to the card.

The cute image from the Bubbles range by That Craft Place (link below) is printed onto That Craft Place Super-Smooth card and coloured with Copics (colour list also below!)

I finished the card with a the greeting stamped in matching distress ink, perfectly framed with lust flowers, handmade by Petal Lu (link below).

DAY #6 - Mixed Media Card Week

Hello!  This week I share with you a series of inky mixed media cards I've been making!

Summary Process

Yes, back to my current favourite technique for card backgrounds!  The "Wrinkle-Free Distress" technique by Tim Holtz!
 

 

I got added texture in the background by dripping plain water onto the almost dried background.

 

Instead of white pen round the edges I decided to get my sewing machine out and machine around the background prior to mounting on the card.

I stamped the cake stamp several times onto different papers and paper pieced the cake together.  The stamp set came with two different sized cakes so I simply cut more by hand to make the cake taller!

DAY #5 - Mixed Media Card Week

Hello!  This week I share with you a series of inky mixed media cards I've been making!

Summary Process

Using Distress Inks and a Creative Expressions Smoothie, I blended the colours for this background, after first stamping the background with Jet Black Archival Ink.

 

The same white detailing as used in the other cards in this series really makes the details pop!

Summary Process

For this card I again used the Tim Holtz "Wrinkle-Free Distress" technique, although this time used DecoArt Media Mister sprays in place of Distress Inks.

 

I love the vibrancy of the colours and the fact that they are permanent once dry.
 
Prior to adding the colour to my background I used clear embossing powder with a "mini squares" stencil to create resist areas.

Summary Process

Yet again I used the "Wrinkle-Free Distress" techniques by Tim Holtz for the background.
 

I used many of the same techniques for most of the cards in this series so check out my other posts for anything I haven't mentioned here!

The "LOVE" and arrows came from a stencil by That Craft Place and were applied in Archival Ink.

I died cotton bias binding with Distress Inks and finished the card with a stamped mandala.

DAY #2 - Mixed Media Card Week

Hello!  This week I share with you a series of inky mixed media cards I've been making!

Each day I'll highlight one card and talk you through the supplies and techniques I've used.

Summary Process

I used the "Wrinkle-Free Distress" technique by Tim Holtz for this background.
 

Again I used a white pen to doodle round the edges of the background!  In fact I think I do this on most my cards! I guess you could say it is my signature move!

This time the stripe on the white card is inked with a baby wipe using distress ink by using masking tape to create a clean edged strip of card to work.  Once dry, and with the masking tape still in place, I stamped the "Cracks" detail in the same distress ink.

The inked background was layered onto navy cardstock before adding to the card.

I used the same stamped butterfly today, but instead stamped and heat embossed it onto navy cardstock.

The card was finished the card with wire antennas and completely lush flowers handmade by Petal Lu.

DAY #1 - Mixed Media Card Week

Hello!  This week I share with you a series of inky mixed media cards I've been making!

Each day I'll highlight one card and talk you through the supplies and techniques I've used.

Summary Process

I used an adaptation of both the "Wrinkle-Free Distress" and "Wrinkled Distress" techniques by Tim Holtz for the colourful background.

 

Using a white pen to doodle round the edges of the background frames it nicely and adds non-fussy details to the finished card.

The grid stripe on the white card is stamped in black Archival Ink by using masking tape to create a clean edged strip of card to stamp onto.

The inked background was layered onto black cardstock before adding to the card.

I coloured the stamped butterfly using Distress Markers and finished the card with wire antennas and a trail of tiny black flatback pearls.
